Sea Sunday Service: 22nd July

Sea Sunday and Church Family Beach Picnic

Blessing of the Boats and Dedication of Community Cross Mosaic on the Breakwater

On Sunday 22nd July, 10:30am at Grève de Lecq we will be having our Sea Sunday Service with the annual blessing of the boats. This is a Joint Service for all our three congregations. We will be joined as usual by our friends from St. Ouen’s Methodist Church and St. Mary’s Church.

As well as the annual blessing of the boats, there will be a special blessing and dedication of The Community Cross on the Breakwater. The Community Cross is a beautiful mosaic, designed and produced by artists Joanne Creavy and Lizi Hill. The blessings will be done by Revd Ian Pallent, Revd Christine Legge and Revd Helen Gunton.

We will as usual be collecting for The Mission to Seafarers. Sea Sunday is a special opportunity for us to remember and say prayers for the 1.5 million brave men and women who go to work at Sea to make sure we receive our essential items. These brave men and women are called seafarers and they work in dangerous and lonely conditions, often not seeing their families for months at a time. The Mission to Seafarers is here to support and care for seafarers around the world.

We will also take this opportunity to thank and say goodbye to St. Ouen’s Methodist Minister, Revd Christine Legge, who will give the sermon. We pray for her as she starts a new chapter of her ministry in Leek, in Staffordshire. Christine’s last service will be next Sunday at St. Ouen’s Methodist Church.

There will be refreshments served at Colleens Café afterwards, and a family Beach Picnic (please bring your own picnic) for those who wish to stay longer on the beach after the service.
